Greek Green Beans

4 slices Bacon, Grease Reserved
2 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1 whole Large Onion, Chopped
4 cloves Garlic, Chopped
2 Tablespoons Chicken Base (paste)
4 cans (14.5 Oz. Can) Green Beans, Liquid Reserved
1 can (14.5 Oz. Can) Diced Tomatoes
1 can (28 Oz. Can) Crushed Tomatoes, Large


1. Fry bacon until crisp, drain on paper towels. Pour bacon drippings into a large skillet or pot. 2. Add 1 2 tablespoons olive oil to bacon drippings. Saute onion until translucent. Add chopped garlic and saute, taking care not to burn the garlic. 3. Chop bacon and add to the onion/garlic mixture. Add chicken base and pour in the green beans. Add crushed and diced tomatoes. If you feel you need more liquid, add juice from the canned green beans until you achieve the desired consistency. 4. Simmer on the stove top for 45 60 minutes. The longer this cooks, the better!
