Sweet-Sour Pork 'n' Onions

4 pork loin chops or 4 rib chops
14 teaspoon salt
18 teaspoon pepper
2 medium onions, cut into 1/4-inch slices
12 cup dry white wine (I use the broth) or 12 cup chicken broth (I use the broth)
2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
2 teaspoons sugar
18 teaspoon ground cloves
1 teaspoon cornstarch
2 tablespoons cold water


Trim fat from pork chops -- Cook pork in 10" nonstick skillet over medium heat, turning once, until brown; drain -- Arrange onions on pork -- Mix wine, vinegar, sugar and cloves; pour over onions and pork -- Heat to boiling; reduce heat -- Cover and simmer about 30 minutes or until pork is tender -- Remove pork and onions; keep warm -- Skim any fat from the liquid in skillet -- Mix cornstarch and water; gradually stir into liquid -- Heat to boiling; stirring constantly -- Boil and stir 1 minute -- Serve sauce over pork and onions -- .
