Chow Mein Casserole Recipe

1 lb hamburger
3 large stalks celery, minced
2 onions, minced
1 1/4 c. boiling water
1/2 c. c. rice, uncooked
1/2 tsp. salt
1 can chicken and rice soup
4 ounce mushrooms
1 Tbsp. brown sugar
2 tsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. butter
1 1/2 c. chow mein noodles


Cook and stir hamburger, celery and onion till hamburger is light brown, then drain. Pour water on rice and add in salt in greased 2 quart casserole. Stir in hamburger, soup, mushrooms, sugar, soy sauce and butter. Cover and cook in 350F oven for 30 minutes; stir. Cook uncovered for 30 minutes longer. Stir in noodles, serve immediately. Note: Water chestnuts or possibly bamboo shoots may be added if you like.
