Moms Sweet and Sour Short Ribs

2 pounds Boneless Beef Short Ribs
3 Tablespoons Olive Oil
1 cup Ketchup
1 cup Water
1/4 cups White Vinegar
1 clove Minced Garlic
1/2 cups Chopped White Onion
1/4 cups Brown Sugar
1 pinch Red Pepper Flakes
1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
1 teaspoon Salt
1 Tablespoon Butter


Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Add the sauce ingredients (ketchup through to butter) into a medium sized saucepan (mix well). Simmer for 15 minutes. In the meantime, heat olive oil in separate pan and brown short ribs in batches (removing them from the pan as they are browned). In an oven safe casserole dish place short ribs with their accumulated juices and add sauce. Cover with lid and cook in oven for 1 1/2 to 2 hrs until tender. I highly recommend serving this with a pile of white rice to soak up that wonderful sauce!
