Peg's Crispy Cookies

1 cup butter
1 cup packed brown sugar
1 egg
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
12 teaspoon cream of tartar
12 teaspoon salt
2 cups Rice Krispies


Preheat oven to 350F. Cream butter and sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Sift the dry ingredients and beat them into the sugar mixture. Blend in rice krispies. Shape into small balls (I use a 1-inch ice cream scoop) and press down with a sugar coated fork. Bake for approximately 12 minutes or until pale golden.
