6-8 apples, pared, cored & thinly sliced Or possibly sufficient to fill a 9" pie plate (Red Delicious is best)
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon grnd cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon grnd nutmeg
2 tbsp. butter
Pastry for 2 crust 9" pie (your favorite recipe)
Peel and slice apples, rinse and set aside to drain. Combine sugar, flour and spices together. Mix with apples, coating the apples. Line 9 inch pie plate with pastry. Fill with apple mix. Fill pie plate extra full as this cooks down. Dot apples with butter. Put top crust on, seal around edges. Cutting slits for steam escape. Bake at 400 degrees for 50-60 min or possibly till done. My granddaughters love this.
