Hamburger Soup

1 lb ground beef
23 cup celery
1 cup chopped onion
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
2 beef bouillon cubes
1 12 quarts water
12 teaspoon thyme
1 cup chopped carrot
1 cup shredded cabbage
12 cup barley
14 cup rice
12 cup frozen peas
2 -3 cups diced potatoes
salt & pepper


In soup pot, add water,tomato sauce and beef bouillon. Cook on a low heat until cubes dissolve. While cubes are dissolving, brown beef, then drain fat from beef. Add onion, celery. Bring to a boil. Add beef, barley, rice, cabbage, potatoes, carrots, thyme. Cover and simmer for 50 minutes. Add peas and simmer an additional 5-10 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste. Optional: serve with cheese on top (parmesan or mozzarella).
