Oat and Barley Banana Porridge

1 cup rolled oats (traditional wholegrain 100g 3 1/2oz)
1 cup rolled barley (100g 3 1/2oz)
3 cups water (750ml 24fl oz)
2 tablespoons oat bran (unprocessed)
2 bananas (firm grated)
1 tablespoon sunflower seeds
1 tablespoon pepitas (pumpkin seeds roughly chopped)
1 tablespoon pure maple syrup


Put the rolled oats, arley and water into a pan and cook over medium heat stirring occasionally. for 5 to 10 minutes or until the porridge is soft and creamy. Stir in the oat bran, bananas and seeds. Divide the porridge among 4 bowls and drizzle with the maple syrup and serve with low-fat milk.
